Prior to her death, actually many years before, Laure’ and I discussed our desire to spend months at a time doing outreach work. But down the road. Ten years in the future. After the kids had settled and we could retire.
Then boom! Grace died. The understanding of our immediate reality hit. What makes us think that we will be around or physically able in ten years if our 19 year old, athletic, healthy daughter could die overnight?
We were called, L and I, to do something now with our lives. In our hearts, we wanted to serve our Lord. Through the most incomprehensible pain of losing our child, the Lord gave us such tender mercies. Surrounding us with family and friends, and amazing experiences of connection and love from strangers.
Those experiences, those moments of connection could be called Serendipity by the secular. For us, they have become gifts of Divine Providence. And our journey, to pick up the Cross, to share love from and with the Universe began.
Grace’s favorite flower, the sunflower, has become our image of Love, Hope, and Faith. Thus, we will carry the sunflower with us in mind and spirit. We invite you to follow…
